One very important word in computing: backup. Needless to say I've been pretty slacking with backups, and I'm looking for a way to make it easier. This is what I'd like to do: create mirrors of a few folders onto another drive, and when I add new files/subfolders to these folders, the utility will automatically copy them into the respective location on the other drive. Example: I download more pictures from my camera to my pictures/random, the utility will then automatically copy thos...

If you have posted tutorials to WinCustomize or other sites (or are planning to post one), please consider posting them to the WC Wiki . The Wiki is a great resource for both new users and power users alike. The Wiki is neatly organized so it makes it easy to find documentation or tutorials to help improve your Windows experience through customization. There is already a decent amount of documentation and information for many Stardock and non-Stardock products, as well as quite a few tutori...

When giving your PC a makeover, you shouldn't forget about Windows Explorer. Sure, there's Litestep, which is an explorer replacement, but how about just some good addons? Been messing with a couple of them for the past few days, and just felt the need to let everyone else know about them. I've added some information about a few programs to the Skinning Your PC article on the Wiki, along with some screenshots for demonstration. Check it out! Skinning Your PC: Other Goodies

*I am not anti-MS in anyway, but this is just plain funny* The District Attorney's office sends out a "Letter of the Law" newspaper every month via email, and in January's edition I found an article quite amusing. We've all had to deal with cryptic Windows error messages, but some anonymous individuals decided to transform some of these common messages into Haiku form. Your file was so big. It might be very useful. But now it is gone. The Web site you seek Cannot be located, but ...

I'm using an ATi Radeon 9600xt AGP 8x 256mb video card on Windows XP Pro SP2 on EPoX EP-8KRAIPRO Socket A (Socket 462) VIA KT880 ATX AMD Motherboard. Ever since I installed the card and mobo, when I reboot my monitor doesn't power back on (not just *this* monitor, my uncle's CRT didn't come back on either). I can't figure out why the monitor doesn't come back on, I have to do it manually. It will go into what I guess is sleep mode and just stays that way. I have to turn it off and turn it back o...

I've been thinking about dumping Norton AntiVirus because it hogs a lot of ram and I've noticed a lot of people saying it's just crap. AVG was one recommendation and I've downloaded the free version but haven't installed it yet. I've been using Norton for years so I've gotten accustomed to it. How does AVG compare in terms of features, processes running, resource use? Can AVG be set to scan once a week at a certain time? Email scan, auto-protect, automatic virus definition updates, etc? ...

Is there a way to add shortcuts to the Choose Image... dialog when changing an icon in OD? http://www.bebi.r0x0rs.com/uploads/chooseimage.jpg I tried adding a shortcut to my icons folder in the OD folder but it didn't work. In addition, is there a way to add a shortcut in the Select Image dialog http://www.bebi.r0x0rs.com/uploads/selectimage.jpg or the Open/Save dialogs? http://www.bebi.r0x0rs.com/uploads/opendialog.jpg I'd like to be able to add/remove icons there on the sidebar but I'm not sur...

I had mentioned this in another topic I created about how to get drive info icons working, but I thought I'd post it here as a bug/support issue for better attention to the issue. Anyway....I recently installed AveDesk 1.2 to add shortcut icons etc to my desktop, but they weren't showing up and I tracked the problem to IconX. After I disabled IconX, the avedesk icons appeared. So my question is: Is there anyway to have these two programs working together in harmony or is it just not possibl...

I recently had to do a fresh install of XP because my other hd died. I'm using SP2, fully updated. I went and tried to install my printer (Lexmark something or other) and had to download the drivers from the net because the disc was broken. I tried going into the control panel > printers > add printer > the wizard thing would come up, I'd hit next...and boom. The pc would reboot, and once booted a message would come up saying that windows has recovered from a serious error, sent in the report ...
