Cute and cuddly Spawn of Satan.

I thought the thing with the hovering to the comment options (reply, give karma, etc) was gonna be switched back to being always on....anyway, it's impossible to give karma for a post in a closed thread because those things don't show up.

This thread makes me winder what goes on on the other side...

as a work around, click on the persons name and choose find other posts. if they have any...

That doesn't help if you want to give them karma for a specific reply in a closed thread.

The other side.

I really don't agree with the idea of allowing someone to 'appreciate' a thread respondent AFTER it has required closure.

The fact it needed closing indicates the people 'lost the plot' and thus do not deserve a pat on the back.....however 'nominal' it may be.

What if someone said something earlier in the thread (before it "lost the plot") that is extremely helpful?  Should that person not get recognition because others spammed the remainder of the thread with off topic rambling?

My point exactly. And what if the person you wanted to give karma to was actually a moderator?

Bara...and Bebi...

Giving anyone Karma after a thread went 'wrong' is an action of taking sides...whether it's the 'right' side or not makes no difference.

Taking sides, whether actual or just in token form [karma] continues the confrontation/whatever that ultimately led to meltdown.

If a thread is closed it SHOULD be closed.

To everything.

And that would ideally include posts from people who still had the page open AFTER it was closed/locked and thus ran the roadblock.

I know that would be problematic...but at least Karma can be stopped.

It is clearly UNFAIR to only allow Karma be given to the 'good guys' and not the cause/s of the closure....so the only 'right' thing to do is bar it...

If you're set on giving the karma, bebi... give it on another thread and in the reason cite the real one. Not as good, but better than nothing.

I wonder if a thread being closed is only due to an administrative action. Are there no other reasons for a thread to be closed?

kenata...no, some sites' threads can be closed by the Op for whatever reason he/she chooses but the majority are due to there being a 'need' for people to just move on as the thread was either derailled or was 'going South', as they say...

Mods don't need/use karma. We have Jafo's "office/dungeon" if we need appreciatation.

OK, Jafo will get you for the spelling, and if mods don't need/use karma, why not divvy up Doc's K between the rest of us?

I assume you are refering to sites that cross into WinCustomize. I saw a thread the other day that appeared closed by the OP but I didn't think that was possible. What cross posted forums is this allowed on?
